About us

About us and Welcome

Moongala Women's Community House was established in 1980. Located in Bentleigh East, we are a not-for-profit community-based organisation offering a range of low-cost educational & general interest classes, self-help & friendship and support groups.

Moongala operates as a Collective for its members and is governed by a Board of Governance – membership is available and participation is encouraged.

Our philosophy of “caring through sharing” means that you will always feel welcome and valued.  Feel free to drop in and meet us!

We would like to acknowledge funding from our funding bodies: the City of Glen Eira and the Department of Families, Fairness and Housing (DFFH).

Special thanks to Community Bank Murrumbeena, Directors and staff for financially supporting some of our programs and funding, we appreciate this invaluable support.

We have also received generous support for a number of years from Yarra Yarra Golf Club Women's Committee - their support has enabled us to offer more programs to engage our community and we are very grateful for their support.

We celebrated our 45th birthday in 2025, reflecting on how through our Collective we have serviced many women and their families in East Bentleigh and surrounding areas. As a Collective we remain committed to the pioneers who shaped Moongala in the beginning, being an organisation that triumphs equality and valuing no hierarchy.

Through our Collective and our programs we have enabled women to connect, belong, learn and have a sense of ownership at Moongala.  Many have become very involved in our activities and projects, learnt new skills, become active volunteers, gained the confidence to study and pursue careers and be vital members of their community.
